The Internet Archive, sort of a giant online museum of digital history, now has over 1000 arcade games to play right in your browser!
It has games ranging from 1977 to 1989, right through the bronze and golden ages of arcade video games. Many of the games even feature a history of their creation or context before you play them! They have everything from the very popular (and universally well known) Pac-Man, to the very obscure (such as 'Kozmik Kroozer').
The method they're using to stream the games online is in an experimental stage, so it's not working ideally yet, but it is already very impressive! Our first tip for you is to use the website with Firefox, as of this writing Firefox is the best environment for running the games in full speed (we've also tried it in Google Chrome, and the graphics are blurry and most games run slowly). Getting the sound to work or playing using a game controller are also a bit fiddly at first (you have to 'unmute' a game and then refresh the page, but then all the games will run with sound from then on!), but it all works more than well enough. You can view all the troubleshooting options in this post from Internet Archive.
Below you can see some of Nintendo Friends' recommended games to play to get yourself started!
